How should myopic people choose eye care experience? Is it better to have a laser TV or an LCD TV?

With the closing of the 8-day holiday, all the holidays in 2021 are over. After a period of relaxation and adjustment, many people have to hoof it back to work and life.

Many people may not know that October 8 is the annual World Sight Day. A few days ago, CCTV news released a set of data can be described as “alarming”. For the current national people, especially the youth, the protection of vision can not be delayed!

Data show that the number of people with myopia in China has exceeded 600 million, and the myopia rate among adolescents is over 50%. Compared with the data at the end of 2019, the myopia rate among students in China increased by 11.7% during the epidemic. Among them, the myopia rate of elementary school students increased by as much as 15.2%.

The reason for this is that excessive eye use and poor eye habits are called “vision killers”. In particular, Internet classes have become a common way of learning today, many parents have been aware of the dangers of prolonged use of electronic products, watching the screen for children’s eyes, but ignore the electronic screen, especially the choice of large screens on the eyes is actually a difference. For example, the same is to buy a TV, different types of TV for eye damage but there is a world of difference.

I have parents around the consultation, online rumors of laser TV than LCD TV more eye protection is this true? In addition to eye protection, what are the benefits of laser TV, how is the picture quality? In the end, which type of TV is better to buy?

In other words, this part of the consumer group in the purchase of large-screen products, hoping to get a large size, good picture quality at the same time, need to take into account better eye protection capabilities.

Before answering this question, we look at the CCTV recently made a period of LCD TV and laser TV comparison experiments.

From the experimental results, laser TV clarity and LCD TV is not much difference, the main difference experience in color, laser TV picture reproduction is high, the color is richer, so it looks more real and natural.

In addition, the laser TV is more space-saving, and the use of scenes are more flexible. Not limited by the scene and venue, you can choose the location of the playback as needed. At the same time, with the support of the anti-light curtain, it can circumvent more than 90% of the ambient light, whether in the living room or conference room, you do not have to worry about the impact of light.

Gao Weinan, a senior engineer at the Applied Laser Research Center of the Institute of Physical and Chemical Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that compared with LCD TVs, laser TVs are different in two main ways, one is that the light source of laser TVs is laser, laser brightness is higher and can achieve high brightness output; in addition, laser is a narrow-spectrum light source, the color of the spectrum is very pure, so for display, you can achieve a large color gamut. Our human eyes can see more color range.

The second difference is that the imaging method is different. Laser TV is to display the picture, through the screen reflected to the human eye, is a diffuse reflection of the imaging principle. LCD TVs (including cell phones, tablets, etc.) use direct light, the light directly into the human eye.

Not only that, laser TV has an inherent advantage over LCD TV – even if long time viewing, eyes are not easy to produce fatigue.

In the experiment, the Chinese Institute of Electronic Technology Standardization Sai Xi laboratory test shows that the three experience after 45 minutes of watching laser TV, easy to cause visual fatigue indicators are basically mild. The subjective feelings of the experiencers themselves are also better, that the picture and light of the laser TV is softer.

The laser TV is more eye-friendly, and on September 19, 2020, Xu Zuyan, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, made the first systematic interpretation of the principle at the second Global Laser Display Technology and Industry Development Forum.

The first, from the imaging principle, laser display using reflection imaging, the human eye receives very soft light, while no edge effect between the pixels, you can achieve full pixel luminescence, effectively reducing the light intensity per unit area, long time viewing is not easy to cause visual fatigue of the human eye.

Second, laser TV has moderate brightness, between 300-400 nits, located in the linear zone of the best visual perception of the human eye, which is comfortable to watch while showing high color saturation and delicate color changes.

He believes that laser has three characteristics: high brightness, good directionality and good monochromaticity, and laser display with laser as the light source represents the development direction of display technology – towards the limit of human eye visual resolution to achieve high fidelity video image reproduction with ultra-high definition, large color gamut and large color number, and laser display is the mainstream technology of the next generation display industry.

Simply put, laser TV uses the imaging method of reflected light, which is a natural eye protection effect. The light produced by laser TV passes through the curtain or wall before being seen by our eyes. This diffuse reflection imaging can reduce the stimulation of light to the human eye, the picture is softer, can be described as inherently anti-visual fatigue, especially to protect the eyesight of children.

In addition to visual fatigue, many people worry that watching TV and cell phones for a long time will cause damage to the eyes, mainly the problem of “blue light”, so much so that some people talk about “blue light”.

In fact, what people call harmful blue light refers to the short-wave, high-energy blue light below 445nm. And the blue light in the wavelength range of 450nm to 480nm is beneficial to our body’s biological regulation rhythm. The actual measurement shows that the blue light wavelength of laser TV is around 455nm, which is safe and very friendly to human eyes.

In addition, the recent scattering problem of laser TV has also aroused people’s concern. Due to the highly coherent nature of laser light, people are illuminated by laser objects, the surface of which presents a granular structure, a state called scattered spots (the following figure).

When the scattering reaches a certain intensity, it will cause damage to the human retina. With pure laser display technology, the scattering phenomenon is more serious, especially the red and green scattering.

However, with the emergence of ALPD (laser + fluorescent technology), this problem has been gradually and effectively solved. Light Peak’s ALPD technology, on the basis of laser display creatively added fluorescence, so that the coherent light component is less (as shown in the figure below), the scattering damage caused by laser + fluorescence is much smaller than the pure laser. Nearly 9 times of scattering damage can be felt by the following figure.

ALPD, or laser fluorescence technology, is based on the technical route of laser-excited fluorescent materials and mixed multi-color laser for image display. In its light source, there is both laser and fluorescence; it integrates the advantages of both and discards the disadvantages of both, setting a new standard for the laser display industry.

After more than ten years of development, ALPD laser fluorescence technology has developed from 1.0 to 4.0, which is not only high brightness and good color. Light Peak laser TV based on ALPD core technology has the advantage of no scattering, which is more eye protection than pure laser for large screen products.

  1. It conquered the laser movie projection technology, while the industry took the lead in launching laser TV products; in 2019, its self-developed laser movie projector C5 passed the international DCI certification, achieving a zero breakthrough in China’s digital movie projection key equipment, and later introduced theater-grade standards to the home field.
  2. In terms of home laser TV products, the laser home theater D30, laser cinema 4K Max, laser TV 4K Cinema Pro and other explosive products were released. Among them, the laser TV 4K Cinema Pro is this year’s 618 sales champion, and the newly launched laser theater 4K Max, will be its “dark horse” products to sprint double 11.
  3. The above-mentioned products all adopt ALPD core technology, which is the same as the cinema projection technology in terms of technical source, and also inherits the advantages of high brightness and high color gamut. What is more noteworthy is that its products have diffuse reflection display, no scattered spot damage, and laser lens on both sides are also equipped with infrared human sensor, someone close to instantly reduce to the lowest brightness, to the maximum extent possible to avoid causing visual damage.
  4. In my opinion look, compared to LCD TV, laser TV is currently a better solution for the living room large screen, not only has a large size, good picture quality, while inherently has better eye protection capabilities.
  5. In addition, in terms of price, at present, more than 80 inches large screen LCD TV is generally more expensive than laser TV. The same price laser TV can get far more than also will TV size, while can be adjusted according to the environmental space at will, the fish and bear’s paw both.
  6. That said, double eleven is almost here again …… in the tendency to choose large-screen display products at the moment, choose more healthy eye protection equipment, perhaps the future purchase of large-screen products our primary consideration criteria.
