Technical parameters of LCD monitors

Brightness

LCD monitor maximum brightness, usually by the backlight to determine, technically can achieve high brightness, but this does not mean that the higher the brightness value is better, because too high brightness of the display may make the viewer eye injury. LCD is a between solid and liquid material, itself is not light, need to use additional light source to do. Therefore, the number of lamps is related to the LCD monitor brightness.

Resolution

Resolution refers to the number of pixels displayed per unit area. The physical resolution of an LCD is fixed. For a CRT display, the resolution can be changed to a different resolution by adjusting the deflection voltage of the electron beam. However, it is much more complicated to achieve inside the LCD monitor, and the display must be simulated by arithmetic, and the actual resolution is not changed. Since not all pixels are scaled up at the same time, there is a scaling error. When the LCD is used at a non-standard resolution, the text display becomes worse and the edges of the text are defocused.

  Chromaticity

LCD is of course important for the degree of color expression. We know that any kind of color in nature is composed of red, green and blue three basic colors. For example, the resolution of 1024 × 768 LCD panel is composed of 1024 × 768 pixels on the display, each individual pixel color is controlled by the red, green, blue (R, G, B) three basic colors. Most manufacturers produce LCD monitors, each basic color (R, G, B) to 6 bits, that is, 64 degrees of expression, then each independent pixel has 64 × 64 × 64 = 262,144 colors. There are also many manufacturers use the so-called FRC (FrameRateControl) technology to simulate the way to show the full-color picture, that is, each basic color (R, G, B) can reach 8 bits, that is, 256 kinds of performance, then each independent pixel has up to 256 × 256 × 256 = 16777216 kinds of color.

  Contrast ratio

Contrast ratio is defined as the ratio of the maximum luminance value (all white) divided by the minimum luminance value (all black.) Accessories such as control ICs, filters and orientation films selected for LCD manufacturing are related to the contrast ratio of the panel.

  Response Time

Response time refers to the response speed of the LCD for the input signal, that is, the response time of the LCD from dark to light or from light to dark, usually in milliseconds. This value is of course the smaller the better. If the response time is too long, it is possible to make the LCD monitor in the display of dynamic images, there is a sense of trailing shadow dragging.

  Viewing angle

The viewing angle of an LCD monitor is symmetrical from left to right, but not necessarily from top to bottom. For example, when the incident light from the backlight passes through the polarizer, liquid crystal and orientation film, the output light has a specific directional characteristic, which means that most of the light coming from the screen has a vertical orientation. If an all-white screen is viewed from a very oblique angle, we may see black or distorted colors. Generally speaking, the up-and-down angle is less than or equal to the left-right angle. If the viewing angle is 80 degrees left and right, it means that the screen image can be seen clearly when it starts at the position of 80 degrees normal to the screen. However, due to the range of human vision, if you do not stand in the best viewing angle, the color and brightness seen will have errors.

  Viewing Area

The size indicated by the LCD monitor is the actual screen range that can be used consistently. For example, a 15.1-inch LCD monitor is approximately equal to the viewing range of a 17-inch CRT screen.
