The EBICS Education Program established a Graduate Teaching Consortium (GTC) to offer a selection of Internet-based courses (synchronous and asynchronous) that define the field of engineered biological systems.
Goals:
- Offer the students at the EBICS institutions and GTC member institutions a much broader collection of advanced graduate courses beyond what are available at the three partner institutions.
- Expose the EBICS students to the world experts in the field of engineered biological systems.
- Establish new models in inter-university collaboration in education.
- Broaden the impact of the EBICS educational efforts.
Broadening Impact and Outreach
To broaden the impact and outreach of the EBICS Education Program, GTC courses will be made available to students at Minority Serving Institutions (MSI’s) who may not have the videoconferencing capabilities to participate in the live discussions. These courses will be “pre-packaged” asynchronous courses (EBICS Online), which will include the videotaped GTC lectures, PowerPoint slides, and other multimedia.
