URBANA, Ill. — Internationally renowned scholar, researcher and academic leader Lawrence B. Schook has been named Vice President for Research at the University of Illinois, pending approval by the Board of Trustees, President Michael J. Hogan announced today.

         Schook has served as interim vice president for research since March when the position was created as part of a senior administrative realignment to streamline and strengthen the university’s research mission.
